The business of personal finance is inherently private, and Danville State Savings Bank holds all of your account information in the strictest confidence. It is the bank's policy not to reveal specific information about customers' accounts or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except for the exchange of information with reputable information reporting agencies to maximize the accuracy and security of such information or in the performance of bona fide corporate due diligence or business matters, unless (1) the information is provided to complete a customer initiated transaction; (2) the customer requests and permits it; (3) the disclosure is required by, or allowed by law (e.g. subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity, request by regulator, etc.); (4) the customer has been informed about the possibility of disclosure for marketing or similar purposes through a prior communication and given the opportunity to decline (i.e. "opt out").
Maintaining Customer Privacy in Business Relationships with Third Parties:
At times it is necessary to provide personally identifiable information about our customers to a third party, such as a vendor or service company we hire to do an outside audit. An example of this is our accounting firm that does periodic audits to ensure our records are accurate and to further protect our customers from possible errors in our records. These vendors and service companies agree to safeguard our confidential customer information and they must abide by applicable law.
Limitations on Our Employees' Access to Information:
At Danville State Savings Bank, employee access to personally identifiable customer information is limited to those employees with a business reason to know such information. Employees are educated on the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of customer information. In addition, individual user names and passwords are used by approved bank personnel to access your personal information on-line, and this provides us auditing trails to further safeguard the privacy of your personal information on-line. Employees who violate these privacy principles will be subject to immediate disciplinary measures.
